Please note: examples in this chapter are organized as follows: There are four exmplars for each numbered example in the textbook. 1-1 refers to the bright-dark continuum  -- 1a and 1b show brighter female and male voices, while 1c and 1d are the darker voices. All of the first 10 examples are arranged in this manner.
